I provide a free 15 minute telephone consultation which does not require any obligation to book further appointments. This is to help me to gain a brief understanding of your reasons for seeking therapy, we can also arrange a suitable date and time for an initial assessment should you wish to.

Each counselling or psychotherapy session lasts for 50 minutes.
An Initial assessment session costs £45.00. Individual counselling and psychotherapy costs £45.00 per session.

I offer a reduced rate to trainee counsellors who are currently attending a course.

You pay by cash at each session and I provide a receipt if required. We can also arrange for payments to be made via bacs.

48 hours’ notice is required to cancel scheduled appointments. Late cancellation or unattended sessions will be charged at the full fee.
This is an opportunity for you to tell me your reasons for seeking help at this time and what you hope the outcome to be. I will listen and advise if I think therapy with me might help. You can ask any questions or concerns you have about the counselling or psychotherapy process. You will also be able to decide whether counselling or psychotherapy is right for you and to discuss this with me. Once we have agreed a way forward, future sessions will then be booked at times and dates to suit you. If I’m unable to offer you therapy, I won’t stick you on a waiting list, I will work with you to refer you if this is what you wish.
Yes, counselling sessions are confidential with some exceptions. My confidentiality policy will be discussed at our initial session. Generally, the exceptions are that if you pose a danger to yourself or others, then the relevant parties will need to be notified. I also offer a contract which covers in more detail how your information is held confidentially. Therapy with me will not appear on your medical records.
Each person is looking to get something unique from counselling or psychotherapy, so the length of time you will spend resolving your issues will be up to you. Usually I will offer a guide as to whether what you want to achieve will require long or short term work and I will discuss the options available to you. Although many clients stay for months and some for years, they always start with one session – and take it from there. Will I need to sign a contract to come for a set number of sessions? No, I normally ask that we contract initially for six sessions and review after that but this is not binding and you are free to cancel should you wish to.
