How I Can Help
Taking the first step can be daunting, many of us struggle to reach out and receive help. We can worry if anyone can really understand what we are going through, or if our problems are either just too big or too insignificant to seek help for. My experience is that a supportive therapeutic relationship can provide a place for you to explore what is troubling you in order to try to understand your difficulties and challenges, with the chance to see things from a different perspective.
This is effectively achieved less by interventions that are directly focused on change and more by providing an environment and therapeutic relationship where clients can feel understood and accepted for who they are. From this a greater sense of self-awareness, insight and hope fosters you to regain a sense of control over your life by promoting positive change and growth through a developmentally needed and reparative relationship that can differ significantly from historic, negative experiences.
It is then that your innate desire to grow and your own thrust towards health and well-being can be stimulated and you can strive to be more fully yourself.
What I offer
You might be experiencing work or relationship difficulties, bereavement, low self-esteem, depression or struggling to cope with trauma or painful feelings about current or past or events. Whatever you are experiencing, I believe that we each have the capacity for change to take place, we might just need a little help sometimes.
I have experience of providing counselling and psychotherapy to male and female clients (aged 14 and over) around the following issues:
It is important that the therapy that you engage with feels right for you and meets your needs. If at any point during therapy you feel that this is not the case, we can discuss this openly and explore other options that might feel more suitable. The most important thing is that you feel supported, comfortable, able and willing to engage in a therapeutic relationship that best meets your needs.
